What is ELN?

ELN is a digital tool that stands for electronic lab notebook. As digitalisation in scientific research is rapidly developing, nowadays most of the ELNs are not just merely tools for jotting down notes for what was done in the lab, but also are integrated with tools for analyses.

The significance in the application of ELNs is tightly related to the FAIR Principles for scientific data management: Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reuse of digital assets. In short, we aspire to strengthen the network of data management and sharing among all fellow scientists.

What is Kladde?

Kladde is an ELN powered by the open-sourced 1 cheminfo that is specifically customized for students and researchers at the Friedrich-Schiller-University-Jena. Some major features of Kladde included are a big variety of spectra simulation tools (e.g. IR, NMR, MS), functions integrated with NMRium, chemoinformatics and so on.

There are currently a lot of choices of open-sourced ELNs available among academic institutes, with which we are in close connection, such as Chemotion and eLabFTW.
